Stop Making These Marketing Mistakes
The marketing pitfall... are you falling into this common problem?
Marketing tends to be a blanket term that covers a multitude of purposes. Because of this, I see business owners fall into what I call the Marketing Pitfall every day.
What is the marketing pitfall?
Tell me first, does this sound familiar?
You spend hours and hours each week working on "marketing" but see little return...
You spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on "marketing" campaigns and don't reach your target audience
You hire "marketing experts" and sign up for online marketing courses, and you are up to your elbows in marketing jargon and strategies without an implementation plan
If any of these sound all too familiar, then chances are you have been utilizing your energy for marketing in the wrong ways. Luckily, I have a few suggestions that will make marketing a bit more intuitive, a bit easier, and a whole lot more impactful for your business.
If you are seeing little to no ROI on your marketing efforts, you are overwhelmed, and you aren't using your time as wisely as you could be I want you to do these three things instead...
Look at the data to decide what marketing will be worth your time in the long run.
It can be tempting to make decisions based on what feels right, what you think your clients want, and what you have done in the past. This is what feels comfortable, and so much of business can include listening to your intuition, but if you aren’t utilizing data in your business to make your marketing decisions- you are wasting your time & energy. If you feel like you haven’t been recording enough data to make these types of decisions, or like you don’t have any data to pull from- I want to challenge you. Start pulling analytics from social media or researching data from businesses in similar industries. Numbers don’t lie.
Create 1 or 2 solid marketing strategies to start with that you use consistently
Entrepreneurs, business owners, and startup founders are notorious for having squirrel brain, also known as “shiny object syndrome” where you constantly jump from one idea to the next and one strategy to the next. Instead of always trying the latest strategy, the newest best software, or the advice from a singular podcast episode you listened to on the way to the gym… I want you to stick to 1 or 2 solid strategies that have worked for you in the past. Once those strategies are really working, you can begin expanding your horizons and adding in more and complicated marketing strategies to increase your success further.
Repeat what works- no need to reinvent the wheel!
This advice seems simple, and technically it is simple… repeat what works. Do more of what gets you results. Seems obvious, right? The tricky part is, once again- your creative spirit! You want to try new things and new ways of getting results, but trust me on this one. Stick with what works and repeat, repeat, repeat!
If you have trouble with any of these marketing pitfalls, don’t worry. You are not alone & they can be relatively easy to fix. The most important thing is to just simply, keep trying and stick with what is working.
Go ahead and leave a comment letting me know if you have done any of these and which solution you’re going to try!!
